In other (semi)remarkable news, our recent trip afforded the opportunity for me to share with my girls one of my favorite childhood movies: A Little Princess, Shirley Temple-style.

Can I just say? Today's child actors have nothing on Miss Shirley Temple. What a freaking pro. And I'm not just saying that because I burst into tears during several scenes. I'm saying that because I...burst into tears during several scenes. You can watch the entire thing on You Tube. I had no idea.
Where am I going with all this? Absolutely nowhere. And it is in keeping with my rambling nowhere-ness that I present to you an object that will no doubt consume you with a jealousy unlike any jealousy you've experienced before. Behold! Behold the necklace newly acquired by your Nesting Ground Mistress:

Hmmm.
Hmmm.
Hmmmmmmm.
Now that I'm really looking at it, I'm not so sure. It was purchased in a fit of sorely needed retail therapy, and I believe my taxed mental state may have clouded my generally sound judgement. I'll let you know if I ever actually wear it. For now, um, just forget what I said about the whole jealousy thing.

I used to watch A Little Princess every chance I got (DON'T say it) and I used to cry like a BABY at the scene where she FINALLY finds her wounded father and he DOES NOT RECOGNIZE HER!!!!!!
I think the first time I saw it I was alone (go figure) and I literally sobbed OUT LOUD.
As for that, um, necklace. It's a surprisingly aggressive piece. Not what I would think you'd go for. That being said, it was purchased during a "fit of sorely needed retail therapy", so no foul. You can only regret it if you never wear it. So... put on your most comfy jeans, a little white camisole, a big white shirt and an amazing pair of shoes then ROCK that golden bird carrying a snowcone. Or is it just a regular ice cream cone in it's claws? Wait! it's one of those little plastic army guys with parachute... or is that a necklace on the bird on the necklace?
I'm tired now.
It's a letter! It's carrying a letter! Presumably, a missive of love for some other bird on some other person's necklace. We'll see about the necklace.
Do you remember the dream sequence from A Little Princess? The one about the stolen kiss? I had totally forgotten about it and practically fainted from an excess of delight.
Haha, I saw the necklace in person and I can confirm that it is, in fact, a snowcone.
What is this web of deceit you are weaving, Madison?! Next you'll say that the albino deer is photoshopped. Oh I am so very sad...
of COURSE I remember the dream sequence! The birds flying out of the pie used to freak me out. The haircuts on the "pie bearers" used to freak me out even more. I used to have nightmares that I'd mysteriously wake up with a Page Boy haircut. (okay, I STILL have those nightmares)
you Montes kids still crack me up....xo
